Thoughtful and practical

This short book contained a lot of good ideas, and thoughtful, practical reasons on how and why you can unburden from keeping “stuff” from parents or elder relatives, but also on honoring the relationships in your life over the stuff they leave behind. Recommend. – ‘Keep the Memories, Not the Stuff’ book on Amazon

Great book for helping parents downsize

I loves this book. Could be very helpful for an adult child helping their parent downsize. Gives steps to take. Explains the difficulty in letting go of objects and where to donate etc. – ‘Ready to Rightsize?’ book on Amazon

A very helpful book, even when you don’t think you need it

This book is more helpful than I ever thought it would be. I have been cleaning out my Mother’s house and have felt guilty about keeping certain things and guilty about not keeping certain things. Jeannine gives validation to those feelings and to all the other feelings that have come up while trying to decide what to do with Mom’s possessions. It’s as if she (Jeannine) knows what will be difficult for people when faced with that situation and she gives a gentle nudge, or just the reassurance that most people feel the same way. Somehow, that is very comforting. It is a quick and easy read, with many short “life messages” scattered throughout the book. My favorite being: “People hold memories, stuff does not.” I highly recommend this book to anyone faced with cleaning out a family home. Even if you think you are handling everything just fine, which you probably are, there are still things in this book that might make life a little easier. – ‘Keep the Memories, Not the Stuff’ book on Amazon

One of the best books I’ve read for decluttering advice

Gentle but Firm

The author’s style is conversational and convincing. She truly seems to understand and empathize with those feeling overwhelmed with memories and belongings, and firmly but gently offers guidance on sorting, prioritizing, and being at peace with the past, the present, and the legacy we ourselves will leave. An easy read — and one that bears reading again. – ‘Keep the Memories, Not the Stuff’ book on Amazon
